Recognising Excellence In Enfranchisement And Lease Extensions

The Enfranchisement Awards 2009, are aimed at recognising excellence in the industry, and are the first independent awards in the residential leasehold property sector. The Awards are sponsored by Langley Taylor, Pemberton Greenish, Tanfield Chambers, Bircham Dyson Bell, Marr Johnson and Stevens LLP and Wallace LLP. Interest in leasehold enfranchisement and lease extensions has been fuelled by a variety of factors over recent years including the recent property boom, changes in legislation and an active judiciary taking a fi rm interest in the issues involved. Against this backdrop a thriving industry has developed. The Enfranchisement Awards 2009 are a natural progression for this maturing sector, providing an independent
and authoritative mark of distinction for excellence in this arena. Th e independent panel of judges is comprised of representatives from the Law Society of England and Wales, the Federation of Private Residents Associations and the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors. There were a significant number of entries to the awards. The judging panel were impressed with the overall quality of entries and decided, in some categories, that this merited extending the list of Finalists publicly announced to reflect the strength of the entries received. The Enfranchisement Awards evening will be hosted by celebrity BBC sports presenter, Garry Richardson.
