This month's LVT cast - Penny Court, Walsall, West Midlands Mar 27, 2007: The appellant was the freeholder of two blocks of flats in Walsall, West Midlands. When the appellant purchased the flats they were both suffering from a lack of maintenance by the previous owner, such that the local council had required extensive works to be done.

Earl Cadogan and Cadogan Estates Ltd and others v Sportelli and others Nov 23, 2006: Facts The Leasehold Reform Acts provide various mechanisms for the holders of long leases of residential premises to enfranchise their interests by an extension of their leases or the purchase of the freehold. The purchase price in such cases depends on certain assumptions of the amount, which, at the valuation date, the freeholder’s interest might be expected to realise if sold on the open market by a willing seller.

Administration Charges - Drewett v Bold & Sossi Jun 21, 2006: The landlords were the freehold owners of a building. The ground floor flat was leased to the tenants under a long lease. The landlords occupied the remainder of the building.

Pearce v Norwich City Council Jun 21, 2006: The applicant leaseholder was dissatisfied with the decision of the respondent freeholder to carry out works to his property.
