ALEP announces appointment of John Midgley to its Executive Committee

The Association of Leasehold Enfranchisement Practitioners (ALEP) has announced it has appointed John Midgley as a new member of its Executive Committee.

The ALEP Executive Committee deals with the day-to-day running of ALEP, and other members include Anna Bailey and Mark Chick. John’s appointment follows the tragic death of ALEP co-founder Alex Greenslade in December, which left a vacancy on the ALEP board. Already a serving member of ALEP’s Advisory Committee, John was well placed to make the move to its Executive Committee.

John is an esteemed figure in the leasehold enfranchisement sector. He is a partner in the Property Disputes team at Seddons and heads up the specialist Leasehold Enfranchisement team. Regularly named as one of the sector’s most influential professionals, John also writes for specialist publications on a variety of enfranchisement and landlord and tenant issues. A notable achievement of John’s was being instrumental in pioneering the Leasehold Reform Amendment Act 2014 and he continues to work with parliament on issues impacting the leasehold sector.

Anna Bailey ALEP Co-founder and Director said: “John has a comprehensive understanding of the Association and how it operates, and we are delighted to welcome him to the ALEP Executive Committee. We now have a vacancy on the Advisory Committee which will be filled by election at the next AGM.

“John has been a great asset to ALEP over many years, and we all look forward to working with him in his new position.”
