With a reputation for offering a quality finished product, the availability of Alubox mailboxes and spares has been somewhat lacking in recent past, in part due to the letterbox manufacturers export policy. However, Post Boxes UK has reached an agreement where it can offer Alubox doors, letter plates, locks, keys, three point locking systems and banks of mailboxes to both the new build and replacement markets.
The most relevant of these accessories is without question the three point locking device. This retrofit lock fits securely and easily to an existing Alubox mailbox door providing an additional level of security by way of a dead bolt mechanism. By simply removing the nut off the back of existing lock the three point lock fits over the top of the existing lock. Fixing the nut back onto the lock holds the unit in place. The plate is designed to sit flush inside the door with the pins held by small brackets on either end of the plate. The only tool needed is an adjustable spanner or pair of pliers.
Charles Riley, Managing Director of Post Boxes UK adds “Part of the problem is with the doors being manufactured from aluminium, as the name suggests. Aluminium is a much softer metal than steel and subsequently can be bent back more easily by screwdriver or jemmy. This three point locking device goes a long way to overcoming this security issue, by making the corners of the door more rigid.”
