Negotiation tips & more in store at ALEP spring conference

Barrister Nick Davies, a dynamic global speaker whose clients have included members of the royal household, will be the keynote speaker at the ALEP spring conference.

Nick’s presentation, entitled ‘Negotiation: the art of letting them have your way’, will explain the difference between ‘positional bargaining’ and negotiation.

Ellodie Gibbons, a barrister at Tanfield Chambers, will present an update on the most recent cases, while Knight Frank’s Vanda Kelsey will talk on ‘Back to Basis’ and the ‘Value of Covenants’, and examine the three main bases of valuation under the 1967 Leasehold Reform Act.

Tim Martin of Marr-Johnson & Stevens will look at the valuation implications of covenants that might be included in freehold transfers under the 1967 Act.

Meanwhile Upper Tribunal member Andrew Trott will examine what is expected of an expert valuation witness appearing before the tribunal.

There will also be a morning bonus session entitled, ‘Everything you wanted to know about enfranchisement valuation but were afraid to ask’, explaining the nuts and bolts of valuation for lease extensions and freehold acquisitions.

The conference takes place on Tuesday, 15 March at the IET London: Savoy Place and qualifies for three hours of CPD, with 1.5 hours for the bonus session.
