Reminder: Fluorescent Lamps to be Removed from Shelves in 2023

It’s always a good time to upgrade your block’s out of date lighting, but NOW is definitely the time to upgrade any fluorescent light fixtures.

Following Stage 2 of the Single Lighting Regulation and the updated Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directive, from February 2023 fluorescent lamps and fittings will no longer be available to buy.

The plan is for all fluorescent lights to be removed from the shelves by September 2023, so our advice to property managers is to re-evaluate all your blocks’ lighting solutions NOW. Are you still using fluorescent technology? If so, an upgrade is overdue.

LED Solutions – Great for the Environment and Your Bank Balance

LED technology lasts five times longer than ordinary fluorescent components, producing the same amount of light output while using 80% less energy. According to the Government, “the shift to LED bulbs will cut 1.26 million tonnes of CO2 – the equivalent of removing over half a million cars from UK roads.”

The UK has already begun it’s shift towards LED technology, and Future Lighting has been at the forefront installing LED solutions in blocks of flats for many years now.

LED upgrades enable clients to transition to a more sustainable lifestyle; waving goodbye to high energy consumption and the frequent, costly maintenance of their existing solution.

The new rules are part of tighter energy efficiency standards for electrical compliance which could save consumers vast amounts on their energy bills. So, besides the obvious advantages for our environment and for tackling the climate crisis, this transition will guarantee to save you money from the minute of installation.
