A new edition of the RICS UK Residential Property Standards - the “Blue Book” - has been published. For the first time the Blue Book includes a section on property management to complement the RICS Residential Service Charge Code. This follows the recent launch of the RICS Residential Property Management qualification in June.

The Blue Book, which has been developed in consultation with consumer groups and industry bodies, seeks to provide residential sales, letting and management professionals with best practice advice to enhance the quality of service provided.

RICS views the latest edition as being more comprehensive than the Property Ombudsman’s codes of practice, and provide best practice guidance across the sector against which all redress schemes can judge an agent’s performance.

David Dalby, RICS Residential Director said: “The new edition of the Blue Book promotes the standards expected of those acting as residential agents.”
