New Junior Vice President of British Property Federation
Bill Hughes, managing director of Legal & General Property, has become junior vice president of the British Property Federation. The appointment means that Hughes, the head of one of the largest institutional property fund managers in the UK with £10.3bn of assets under management, will take the role of president of the BPF in two years’ time.
British Land chief executive Chris Grigg has taken on the role of BPF president for a one-year term, taking over from Great Portland Estates chief executive Toby Courtauld. Brockton Capital co-managing partner David Marks has succeeded Grigg as senior vice president, and so is in line to become BPF president next July.
Bill Hughes said: “The BPF plays a vital role in representing the property industry to the Government. I am honoured to be asked to take the role of junior president and very much look forward to strengthening that voice, working alongside Chris Grigg, David Marks and the BPF team.”
Damian Greenish becomes Chairman of Pemberton Greenish
Damian Greenish, who has been Senior Partner of Pemberton Greenish LLP since the inception of the business in 2000, has taken up the newly created role of Chairman. As Chairman, he combines his day to day client work with that of acting as ambassador for the firm externally. He continues to oversee their client relationship programmes, as well as contribute to decisions on the strategy and direction for the firm as a whole.
New Chairman For CARLEX
Sebastian O’Kelly has been appointed chairman of Carlex. In this role he replaces co-founder Melissa Briggs, who has decided to stand down owing to ill health. As property editor of the Mail on Sunday for 10 years, Sebastian has written on leasehold issues many times and, with Melissa, he is co-director of the Leasehold Knowledge Partnership, an accreditation scheme for managing agents.
New Vice President of Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers Federation
John Field, Director for Carbon Management, at Power Efficiency, the Balfour Beatty owned energy procurement and carbon management consultancy, has been appointed Vice President of the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE). He is considered to be one of the industry’s influential figures and advises businesses and government on the development of legislation for carbon reduction. He is also author of the guide setting national benchmarks used for mandatory building energy performance certification and the guide on energy use in offices ‘Energy Consumption Guide 19’, widely referenced in Building Regulations.
BARBON APPOINTS NEW CEO
Property insurance broker Barbon Insurance Group has announced the appointment of Mike Ramsey as its new Chief Executive Officer. During his distinguished career, Mike has held CEO and senior executive roles with Cigna, American Express, Aegon and AXA. Commenting on his appointment Mike says: “I am excited at the challenge ahead and look forward to leading Barbon in the next phase of its development.” Barbon’s brands include Deacon Insurance, the specialist blocks of flats insurance broker.
