ChargeGuru and its sister brand Zeplug are unifying their international operations under a single brand identity: Tohmo. Currently operating in six countries (France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Portugal, and the United Kingdom) with over 100,000 charging points installed, Tohmo is set to accelerate its expansion across Europe.
This rebranding comes during a period of rapid growth for the UK’s electric vehicle market. According to the latest data from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Trades battery electric vehicles (BEVs) accounted for 29.8% of all new car registrations in August 2026, with 28,063 new electric cars registered during the month. Across the first eight months of 2026, BEV uptake reached a record 25.6% of the new car market.
From ChargeGuru and Zeplug to Tohmo
ChargeGuru and Zeplug originally operated as sister brands, with Zeplug pioneering private EV charging solutions in 2014. In 2022, ChargeGuru launched in the UK market to deliver fully-funded EV charging across residential and commercial properties. Following an operational merger between the two brands in November 2023, today’s announcement marks the final step in their integration. Unifying under the single Tohmo brand brings together the group's end-to-end expertise across the entire EV charging value chain: spanning infrastructure installation, financing, operations, and ongoing maintenance. In the UK, Tohmo designs, installs, operates, and maintains charging infrastructure tailored specifically for apartment blocks and office buildings.
"In 2023, merging Zeplug and ChargeGuru allowed us to combine our expertise and establish a strong presence across every segment of the private charging market," says Nicolas Banchet, Co-Founder of Tohmo. "Three years later, transitioning to a single brand, Tohmo, marks the next logical step in our integration. It reflects our commitment to offering a seamless European solution while preserving our founding expertise."
Denis Watling, Managing Director of Tohmo UK, adds: “While our name is changing to Tohmo, our focus in the UK remains exactly the same as it did when we were ChargeGuru. We still know the UK’s transition to electric vehicles will only succeed if it works for everyone, especially the millions of drivers living in flats or without dedicated driveways. Operating as Tohmo reflects our place within a unified European group as we continue advocating for and delivering accessible charging across the UK.”

What remains unchanged
The rebranding will not alter any services provided to current customers. All contracts, charging solutions, and existing teams will remain intact, as will daily customer support operations. Clients, property managers, and business partners do not need to take any action. Existing infrastructure will continue to operate as usual, with the Tohmo brand gradually replacing legacy communications previously sent under the ChargeGuru brand. This name change reflects the company's internal evolution without disrupting client relationships or service delivery.
"Our customers have trusted us for years under the Zeplug and ChargeGuru names. Transitioning to Tohmo won't alter those long-standing relationships," explains Gilles Gomis, Co-Founder of Tohmo. "We are keeping the same trusted expertise, now unified under a shared identity across all European markets."
Why Tohmo?
The name Tohmo blends three meaningful references: "Tomo" (Japanese for "friend"), "Ohm" (the standard unit of electrical resistance named after physicist Georg Ohm), and "Home"—highlighting the primary location where EV owners power their vehicles. The company’s brand tagline is « We are where you are. »
The new brand identity was developed in collaboration with two specialised creative agencies: Namibia handled the renaming and visual branding, while Lord directed the brand design.
"We wanted a brand name and visual identity that reflected both what we do and how we do it. Tohmo is short, catchy, and memorable. The artistic direction centers on energy, accessibility, and trust—positioning us as a reliable partner that takes the hassle out of EV charging to make it effortless," explains Céline Winant-Pateron, Marketing & Communications Director France at Tohmo.
