Crabtree Property Management Company have become the first managing agent to set up their own law firm using the new alternative business structure (ABS). The new firm, called Crabtree Law, recently received its licence from the Solicitors Regulation Authority and began trading in September 2012. The Co-Operative is the only other non-lawyer business operating a law firm under the ABS structure.

In-house lawyer, James Naylor, a director of Crabtree Law explained his belief that there is demand in the industry for a “good service at a modest and more certain cost”. The firm plans to offer a fixed-fee property litigation service to existing and new clients.

Crabtree Property Management has grown to be one of the largest managing agents in the country, with over 17,000 individual units in its portfolio across London and the South of England.
