Meeting new heat network regulations just got easier.
Two of the sector’s leading names - Data Energy and Guru Systems - have partnered to help property managers, developers and operators simplify compliance and take control of their network performance ahead of Ofgem’s 2026 regulation.
Together, they’re making compliance clearer, smarter and easier - turning complex data into real-world insights.
A Partnership Built for Real-World Challenges
Managing a heat network has never been more complex. Between conflicting priorities, tightening regulation and limited visibility of performance data, many property managers are left without the clarity they need to act confidently.
By combining Guru’s award-winning hardware and analytics with Data Energy’s compliance, data collection and billing expertise, the partnership delivers a complete, integrated solution - giving clients visibility, confidence and control.
“This partnership is all about taking the pressure off property managers,” said Sian Hoddle, Director of Energy Services, Data Energy. “They’re expected to be energy experts and compliance specialists on top of everything else. With Guru’s technology and our compliance knowledge, we’ve made the process easier - turning complexity into clarity.”
Why It Matters Now
From January 2026, Ofgem will formally regulate heat networks, later introducing strict performance and transparency standards. Operators who fail to comply could face penalties of up to £1 million or 10% of annual revenue.
Guru Pinpoint, delivered through the partnership, gives property managers real-time visibility across their networks, helping them spot inefficiencies early, prevent costly issues, and automatically generate the performance data Ofgem will require.
“We want to give operators the confidence to act before problems arise,” said Soulla Paphitis, Sales Director - Guru Systems. “By combining our technology with Data Energy’s expertise, we’re creating something bigger than the sum of its parts - practical tools, clear insights and the transparency that regulators and residents alike expect.”
Smarter, Clearer, More Cost-Effective Compliance
This partnership isn’t just about regulation - it’s about empowering the people who keep buildings running. Better visibility also means fewer callouts, lower energy waste and happier residents.
By improving performance and reducing inefficiencies, Data Energy and Guru Systems are helping clients meet compliance standards while cutting operational costs and supporting the UK’s wider decarbonisation goals.
About the Partnership
The partnership is already supporting clients nationwide to help the sector prepare for the next wave of regulation and will launch joint initiatives including compliance health checks, case studies and client training sessions to support the industry in achieving smarter, fairer and greener heat networks.
