Leading fire safety experts FR Consultants has made a £1000 charity donation to Dale Youth Amateur Boxing Club recently to purchase new training kit. Now in their new home under the Westway flyover in North Kensington, the club operated from a gym that was destroyed during the Grenfell Tower fire tragedy over five years ago.
The survival of the club, which has crafted the likes of championship boxers James DeGale, George Groves, and Daniel Dubois, is a testament to the strength and resilience that the community has shown, and how tragedy can bring people together. Volunteers have helped rebuild the club and this donation will be used to fund new safety kit including gloves and mitts for the next budding Dubois trained bythe team.
This is the second donation that FR Consultants has made to the club. Managing Director Dorian Lawrence has visited the club to ‘touch gloves with Mick Delaney’ and experience for himself why Dale Youth Boxing Club is so important to its volunteers and members.
“FRC recognises the beacon of strength that Dale Youth represents in the community” said Lawrence, “we are proud to continue our ongoing support for the club”
“Our club, like most clubs, is run by volunteer coaches and officials, contributing their time and expertise to help young people, many of whom are faced with challenging circumstances in their personal lives, find direction and discipline.
It is greatly encouraging to us to have friends, like FRC, that recognise the importance of what we do here and are willing to help us on our journey.” – Mick Delaney, Head Coach at Dale Youth
