UK planning and development consultancy Lichfields has appointed Caroline McDade as senior director, strengthening its major projects capability in London and nationally.
Caroline joins from BNP Paribas Real Estate where she was national head of planning leading a UK-wide team advising institutional investors, developers and landowners. She brings almost three decades of experience across major regeneration, mixed-use and residential schemes, with a career spanning senior roles including Deloitte and Drivers Jonas.
Based in Lichfields’ London office, Caroline will support the firm’s major projects team, working on large-scale, complex schemes across sectors and geographies. Her appointment comes as demand continues to grow for commercially focused planning advice, particularly in the context of government priorities around housing delivery, infrastructure and economic growth.
Commenting on her appointment, Caroline McDade said: “Lichfields is widely recognised as a pre-eminent planning consultancy and is at the forefront of the issues shaping the planning system. With planning firmly on the government’s agenda, it is a great time to join a business that is already leading the conversation. I was also drawn to the scale of the practice, its national reach and its employee-owned structure, which gives people a genuine stake in the direction of the firm.”
Caroline has spent her career advising on some of the UK’s most complex planning and development challenges with experience spanning both the public and private sectors. Her background includes leading national planning teams, managing large multidisciplinary programmes and supporting clients through planning strategy, policy promotion and delivery on major schemes.
James Fennell, chief executive of Lichfields, added: “Caroline brings extensive experience of advising on major, complex projects and a strong track record of leading multidisciplinary teams. Her appointment strengthens our London-based major projects capability and supports our continued growth across the UK as clients navigate an increasingly demanding planning and development environment.”
