London Drainage Facilities (LDF) is proud to announce the successful completion of a key drainage project as part of the comprehensive regeneration of Lewisham Park Towers in South East London. Working with Axis, LDF has played a pivotal role in the complete removal of internal soil stacks from three tower blocks and their reinstatement externally as part of a major infrastructure upgrade aimed at enhancing living conditions for residents.
The regeneration project, which spans several phases over two years, involves replacing the exterior cladding, refurbishing kitchens and bathrooms, and relocating the internal soil stacks to external positions, with a new system that ensures improved drainage and infrastructure.
Project Overview
The Lewisham Park Towers regeneration project is designed to improve both the physical infrastructure and the quality of living for residents. It covers the installation of new soil stacks running the full height of the towers, connecting each property to an upgraded underground drainage system.
This ambitious project is structured into four key phases, with LDF handling the essential drainage works at the heart of the project:
Phase 1 (Completed March 2024): Laying the groundwork by installing the bases of the new soil stacks and connecting them to the main underground drainage network.
Phase 2 (Summer 2024): Installing brackets and fixings throughout the height of the towers to prepare for the stack installation, while external contractors began the installation of cladding around the structures.
Phase 3 (Early 2025): The installation of new stacks, spanning the entire height of the towers, with hook-ups prepared for individual properties.
Phase 4: Transitioning properties to the new external stacks and capping off the old internal stacks for a seamless switch to the newly upgraded system.
Key Installations and Additional Works
In addition to the core drainage system installations, LDF also completed essential works for temporary site welfare services, including pipework preparation for future plumbing connections, ensuring that the site remained operational throughout the project phases.
Project Costs
The drainage portion of the Lewisham Park Towers regeneration project represented a significant investment of approximately £800k, underscoring the scale of the work and the long-term commitment to improving the infrastructure of the Lewisham area.
Looking Ahead
The regeneration of Lewisham Park Towers represents an important step forward in enhancing the local living environment. LDF’s involvement in the drainage works has been integral to the overall success of the project, ensuring that the site is equipped with modern, efficient drainage systems that will benefit residents for years to come.
