Following a career spanning 43 years within the property sector, the last 23 years of which has been with Pennycuick Collins, Richard Moxon will be retiring on 25th February.
Richard began his career at James & Lister Lea in 1979 where he assisted with urban and rural estate management then progressed to WS Atkins Property Services in 1993 as Head of Commercial Estate Agency and Marketing. He was quickly promoted to Regional Manager for Estate Management at W S Atkins where he provided a full range of surveying services in both Birmingham and Nottingham.
After a number of successful years within established companies, Richard set up his own business in 1998; Richard Moxon & Associates before merging with Pennycuick & Brown to create an enlarged practice a year later.
Following further integration with Perry & Deakin and Collin Son & Harvey, in 2001, the business was re-named Pennycuick Collins. Richard was instrumental in overseeing our growth which lead to our relocation from our office on Broad Street to a larger space at 54 Hagley Road.
More recently, Richard played an instrumental role in the Cosnett Price merger in August 2020. Aside from his role within Pennycuick Collins, Richard has been influential throughout the property sector. He has been on the board of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and was the Chair of RICS UK & Ireland World Regional Board for the majority of this time where he assisted in setting practise standards throughout the sector. Talking about his retirement, Richard said:
"I am now only just beginning to reflect on my career but I have been blessed to work with and for some wonderful people, good companies and clients. 43 years is a lifetime and I have been lucky to work in the built environment sector and on some fantastic projects I can genuinely say I have enjoyed most of my working life. In particular since joining Pennycuick Collins the last 23 years has been a truly incredible journey and it give me immense pleasure to reflect on how the company has grown and developed in that time."
"I have undertaken various representative roles within the RICS and wider business community which have added to the rich nature of my career and to those bodies and individuals involved I give my thanks as I not only contributed but also they gave me valuable, knowledge, lessons and skills which I was able to take back into the company and working life. I would like especially to wish the Directors and Staff at Pennycuick Collins the very best for the future and for their help and friendship along the way during my time at the company, you really are a great team. I know there are exciting times ahead for the business and I know you continue to grow and take advantage of all the opportunities along the way."
On behalf of the board of directors, Charles Gillett added;
“Richard has built an extremely talented commercial team over the years and will leave the department in a really strong position and safe in the knowledge our long standing clients are in safe hands.
Richard has played a vital role in the growth of Pennycuick Collins and is well-respected throughout the property industry and the board of Directors are grateful for all his hard work and efforts over the many years. His input over the years has been instrumental to our success and he will be greatly missed by his peers and clients.
