Property managers from across the country gained invaluable new insights from industry leaders at a ‘very special’ conference.

Delegates who attended the Oxford Weekender, organised by Property Management Legal Services (PMLS), hailed the successful event as ‘inspiring, informative and fun’ afterwards.
More than 100 people packed into St Hugh’s College, Oxford, to hear from over 27 experts in 40 different sessions during the weekend.

Award-winning solicitor Cassandra Zanelli, the founder of boutique law firm PMLS, said: “I’d like to give a massive thank you to everyone who participated in the Oxford Weekender.
“This theme this year was ‘Property Managers: Keep Calm and Keep Managing’ in a nod to the ever-evolving landscape we work in.

“Our speakers dove deep into some of the biggest issues for the industry, from AI to managing building safety.

...

“Every delegate went home with new tools to help them thrive, and to keep managing, no matter the challenges.

“They now have a deeper understanding of the hurdles we face thanks to expertise from people at the very top of their game.

“We all also made a diverse range of new connections and many people told me what a very special time it had been.”

Speakers at the summit included Andrew Bulmer, CEO at The Property Institute. Barrister Justin Bates of Landmark Chambers led a session centred on the Building Safety Act 2022 - just days after he was appointed as King’s Counsel.

Industry legend Jeff Platt also shared his expertise in developing professional standards.

The event agenda included the impact of the new FCA disclosure rules, compliance requirements beyond fire safety and party wall issues among many other hot topics.

Several delegates at the conference, organised in partnership with the IRPM, took their level 3 and level 4 exams in leasehold management. Plans for the 2025 Oxford Weekender are already in development.

Cassandra added: “We’re looking forward to making the Oxford Weekender even bigger and better in the future.

“The event would not be possible without the support of our fantastic sponsors.
