Solicitors at Sheffield’s Taylor&Emmet LLP are inviting property professionals from across the UK to the first major social housing conference to be held in the North.
The firm is hosting the Social Landlord Leasehold Summit in its home city on May 14 to provide essential information about property managers’ responsibilities and liabilities.
Taylor&Emmet is organising the one day event in conjunction with Arden Chambers, London-based barristers specialising in local government and housing, along with property management advice forum, News on the Block. It will be held at the Mercure Sheffield St Paul’s Hotel and will be open to representatives from across the sector, including housing associations, local authorities and arm’s length management organisations (ALMOs).
Keynote speeches will come from experts at Arden Chambers and former Tribunal Judge of the First-tier Tribunal (Property Chamber), Judith Goulden. Delegates will then have a choice of afternoon breakout sessions led by various specialists, including Nicholas Kissen from the Leasehold Advisory Service, which will focus on issues such as legal costs, the structure of leases, shared ownership and housing association relationships with private landlords. The summit will close with a question and answer panel discussion, led by Taylor&Emmet property specialist, Jacqui Dyer.
Jacqui said: “Despite having a large and very active social housing sector in the North, a dedicated conference of this nature would normally be held in London. Sheffield is readily accessible from across the UK and we aim to make the journey worthwhile, offering an interesting mix of practical and useful presentations from legal experts and industry leaders, who will provide insight into some of the key issues faced by leaseholders.”
The Social Landlord Leasehold Summit will run from 8.45am to 5.15pm and includes refreshments and lunch. Tickets are now on sale, with a pre-agenda rate offered for bookings taken before March 31.
