The site manager at Bellway’s impressive Radley Reach development in Abingdon, Oxfordshire has been recognised for the quality of his work with a coveted national award.
Project Manager Stefan Codreanu has secured a Quality Award in the National House Building Council’s (NHBC) annual Pride in the Job awards – for the second year in a row.
Stefan was among only 450 winners selected from a pool of more than 8,000 site managers whose developments have been inspected by the NHBC over the past year. This places him among an elite group within the industry.
This is the third Pride in the Job Quality Award that Stefan has won during his six-year career as a site manager. He has worked in the construction industry for the past 15 years, starting out as a site labourer with Bellway and growing his skills and experience supported by the company. Stefan took up his first site management role with Bellway in 2019 and won his first Pride in the Job Award a year later. The latest win means he has scooped three of the coveted Quality Awards in the past five years – an incredible achievement that speaks to the high standards and strong work culture that Stefan inspires.
Stefan said: “I am honoured to have won a second NHBC Pride in the Job Quality Award for my work here at Radley Reach. This is very much a team effort – everyone has to commit to achieving such high standards at a site of this size and scale. The NHBC judging process is incredibly tough, so this win is a real testament to the quality and consistency of the team’s work at Radley Reach. It’s been a busy year, with many homes completed and handed over to customers, so we’ve had the pleasure of seeing buyers settling in and being delighted with their homes. I’m immensely proud to now have another NHBC award in recognition of the quality of our work here too.”
The Pride in the Job awards involve a rigorous process including spot checks on the day-to-day running of a site. Each site manager is assessed across six key areas: consistency, attention to detail, leadership, interpretation of drawings and specifications, technical expertise and health and safety.
Stefan and the other Quality Award winners will now go forward to the next stage of the competition – the NHBC’s Seal of Excellence and Regional Awards, which will be announced this autumn.
Ricky Johnstone, Construction Director for Bellway said: “As you can see from the number of sites that are judged nationally, winning this award is no mean feat. The NHBC Quality Award is recognition of a job very well done and is universally respected throughout the construction industry as a mark of distinction.
“Stefan and his site team should be incredibly proud of this achievement. It is a real testament to their hard work, commitment and attention to detail, not to mention the extremely high standards that we set for ourselves throughout the business.”
