The Property Institute is indispensable within the property management industry. Through its regulatory oversight, accreditation processes, and professional development programmes, it ensures that practitioners operate with competence and integrity. Membership in TPI not only enhances the credibility of individuals and firms but also contributes to the overall health and professionalism of the industry.
It is a great achievement that the TPI have recognised Tony’s career which reflects nearly 30 years of exceptional leadership and service in the residential property management sector.
Tony’s career began at just 16 through a Youth Training Scheme with River Heights Tenant Management Cooperative in Plumstead, London. His early dedication laid the foundation for a career marked by innovation, community empowerment, and a deep commitment to professional excellence. Rising from Junior Administrative Assistant to leading the Cooperative, he played a pioneering role in the Right to Manage campaign – helping residents gain greater control over their housing.
At Caxtons Property Consultants, he has managed one of the largest residential portfolios in the South East, and has consistently gone above and beyond. He led the company’s successful ARMA-Q accreditation and initiated ongoing training programmes for staff and clients alike. Indeed, his impact extends beyond Caxtons, in the early 2000s Tony served on a Housing Steering Committee in London, offering insights into how Tenant Management Organisations (TMOs) operate. These contributions helped to shape local housing policies and improve tenant participation in property management which has been essential for the sector’s development. He also sat on Larner Road Residents Association as an advisor for many years, empowering residents to have a say in how their properties were being managed and better their living environment.
Tony’s dedication to the industry is matched by his passion for mental health advocacy and charitable work, helping to raise over £90,000 for causes including Scope, MIND, and Demelza Children’s Hospice. His recent appointment as Mental Health Champion at Caxtons is a testament to his ongoing commitment to workplace wellbeing.
Tony’s Fellowship is not just a personal milestone – it is a celebration of a career built on service, advocacy, and the pursuit of better standards across the property sector.
Moreover, Tony has the respect and friendship of his colleagues at Caxtons and a wealth of expertise which he is happy to share.
Congratulations, Tony, on this well-deserved honour.
