A selection of apartment buildings around the country have found themselves in the limelight recently, being used as set locations for television and film productions.
TV Show Hustle and new drama Dancing on the Edge were filmed in and around apartment buildings in Birmingham. Dancing on the Edge, written by Stephen Poliakoff, is also filming in London and will be aired later in the year.
Meanwhile, the Elektron Tower in London’s Docklands has found itself in a starring role in Danny Boyle’s new film. The Oscar-winning director shot several scenes for his new project ‘Trance’. Overlooking the O2, the striking building was used as the setting for the home of one of the lead characters in the high-energy, psychological thriller set for release in 2013.
Fox Searchlight UK location manager Alex Gladstone said: “It was an absolute pleasure to shoot at Elektron. Tony Ulasi, Lulu Frnkova and all the Consort Property Management team were so helpful and accommodating, we can’t wait to go back.”
Mike Dowland, Head of Operations at Consort Property Management, said: “When the production team got in touch about filming, we asked residents if they would be happy for the Elektron to be used as a film set. The feedback was that they would be delighted for their home to have a starring role in Danny’s latest film. The Consort Property Management team made sure the crew had everything they needed while making sure disruption for residents was kept to a minimum.”
