The year may be young but the impetus behind leasehold reform continues to grow, with the Government having already announced a new consultation on making the leasehold system fairer, and committing to make developers responsible for meeting to cost of removing unsafe cladding from lower height buildings.
To help leaseholders navigate the changing world of leasehold enfranchisement, experts from law firm Bishop & Sewell will present a FREE Leasehold Question Time webinar on Tuesday 1 February at 5pm.
Partners Mark Chick and Chris Macartney, Joint Heads of the firm’s highly-regarded Landlord and Tenant Team, will be looking at the Landlord & Tenant Act 1987 and how it applies to residential leasehold property. The webinar will focus on Part I of the Act, which stipulates how a freeholder may dispose of their interest in a property, in what circumstances the Right of First Refusal must be offered to leaseholders, and the type of transactions covered by the Act.
A Q&A session will give attendees the chance to ask questions on a range of leasehold issues including: the implications of falling lease length, ground rents and service charges, lease extensions and freehold acquisitions.
