The ALEP Spring Lecture 2022

After a much anticpated networking lunch, our lecture, hosted by Damian Greenish, will focus on “Deferment rate – the next debate?” 

ALEP events are always specific to our membership and this lecture is no different, providing useful guidance and practical notes for legal and valuation professionals. 

We will look in detail at the Upper Tribunal decision in Llangewydd Court, and the possibility of a future challenge to the deferment rate.  Our speakers will put matters in context with a discussion on developments in case law since Sportelli, along with some guidance on what the risk-free rate actually is.

We will consider the issue from the points of view of the law, valuation, the economy, the wider property market and the financial institutions. 

To conclude, our panel will seek to address the wider question of whether all of this is, in fact, something of a ‘waste of time’ given impending reforms.
