Leading property software house, Visionbase is urging managing agents to adopt professional accounting standards to fully protect leaseholder’s property and money.
According to Visionbase Software, managing agents have inconsistent administration and service charge collection services. The leasehold management sector remains unregulated, so essentially anyone can set up as a managing agent and start in business. As a result, leaseholders and tenants are not guaranteed industrywide, professional standards.
Paul Oxley, Managing Director of Visionbase Software comments: “Unfortunately, there are a small number of rogue managing agents out there that are mismanaging leaseholder’s property and money. This, together with the inconsistencies in service levels across the board, are damaging the reputation of property managers. Tenant trust is also at risk, so it’s essential that agents promote best practice in their business.
“Managing agents that fail to uphold best practice standards are at risk of losing their leaseholders, but are also falling foul of the law and could incur hefty fines. To help property managers differentiate themselves with professional front and back end processes, we haveadvanced our property management software Decorus for Sage, which includes features to help streamline the administrative workload, manage properties cost-effectively and has an accounting engine powered by Sage 50.
“The unique Sage integration offers property managers the ability to easily generate financial reports, forecast future income & expenditure accurately and budgeting for maintenance work. We continue to develop the software and our latest addition Decorus Online is a web-based portal giving users the ability to view their Decorus for Sage data on any device, with an internet connection 365/24/7.
“As Decorus Online is a cloud-based solution, it takes the stress from the office, allowing property managers and tenants access to important information like tenancy agreements and statements as well as being able to log work orders.
“Decorus for Sage caters to residential and commercial lettings, student accommodation providers, estate management and much more. The flexibility in Decorus makes it adaptable to solve a wide spectrum of problems from calculating service charge budgets for block managers, to streamlining paperwork and simplifying client accounting for letting agents.”
