For the first time ever, the most influential people in the residential leasehold property sector are identified. The list contains a mix of leasehold campaigners, Parliamentarians, trade and professional bodies, managing agents, building owners, investors, developers, valuers, and lawyers amongst others.
James co-ordinates fund management, property acquisition and financial relationship management, with lead responsibility for Ground Rents Income Fund plc, the first UK ground rents REIT. He heads the company’s business development activities and manages its large scale corporate and institutional client base, which have seen the business grow to manage over £1 billion of property assets.
Just over a year into her new role as Chief Executive of the Association of Residential Managing Agents (ARMA), Michelle Banks has prioritised the implementation of ARMA-Q as a self-regulatory regime as a key goal. Michelle leads an organisation whose members manage over 900,000 flats in more than 34,000 buildings nationwide.
Justin practises in all areas of housing, landlord and tenant and property law and regularly writes on leasehold law.. He was previously nominated for the Bar Pro Bono award. Provided advice and assistance to Labour during the passage of the Localism Act 2011 and assisted with their Housing Policy review.
Tony is responsible for managing their residential portfolio. His considerable expertise and experience in the valuation and analysis of complex ground rent portfolios is key in influencing their policy on acquisitions and disposals. The Group are active in this market and are always looking for opportunities.
Andrew Billson is one of the most experienced property managers in the UK, he is Managing Director of Barratt Residential Asset Management (BRAM). Andy joined BRAM after 21 years with OM Property Management Ltd, to ensure that the company’s customer service in property management adds value to Barratt’s property offering.
Peter works alongside RICS’ other professional group teams to increase its presence in the residential sector, and promote the role of RICS Residential globally. He has been a vocal supporter of Government regulation in the sector. Peter is the former Chief Executive of National Federation of Property Professionals (NFoPP).
Sam is joint head of the leasehold enfranchisement department. She has successfully represented a wide range of landlord and tenant clients including the Freshwater Group, and has been involved in several significant cases, including Brick Farm Management v Richmond Housing Estate and City & Country Properties v Plowden Investments. Sam deals with over 350 enfranchisement cases each year.
Sir Peter is a vocal campaigner for leasehold reform both inside and outside Parliament. He has chaired several meetings in his Westminster offices about leasehold issues, after a landmark legal case in his constituency brought what he describes as “legal torture” to his attention.
Mary-Anne, an Engineer and Chartered Surveyor is the founding director of Ringley Group, which delivers property management to 10,000 leasehold properties, building engineering services, valuations and legal work to help leaseholders enfranchise or claim their right to manage.
She sits on the IRPM’s Board of Governors, Committee at Notting Hill Housing Trust and is one of London’s Ambassadors for Apprenticeships.
Having successfully won several cases in the LVT for his own building, Martin is now determined to help other flat owners individually and by campaigning for legal change under the LKP banner. Martin is active in lobbying members of Parliament for leasehold reform.
