For the first time ever, the most influential people in the residential leasehold property sector are identified. The list contains a mix of leasehold campaigners, Parliamentarians, trade and professional bodies, managing agents, building owners, investors, developers, valuers, and lawyers amongst others.
Entries have been gathered subjectively according to our knowledge and experience of the industry and are arranged in alphabetical order by name.
Dudley founded the RTMF, a not-for-profit organisation that helps leaseholders exercise their legal right to manage their building. They have helped 3800 leaseholders through this process including acting in the largest right to manage application to date - a 422 unit apartment building in London.
Nick joined Grainger plc in September 2010 as executive director with responsibility for property matters from CB Richard Ellis where he was executive director of residential. Nick’s responsibility covers Grainger’s UK residential portfolio, development and fund management business units. Nick is also the chairman of the Urban Land Institute’s UK Residential Product Council.
With over an estimated 2.5 million privately owned leasehold properties in the country, by far the most influential people in the sector are flat owners themselves. In London alone, service charges are estimated in excess of £500 million. As paying customers, leaseholders are increasingly aware of their rights and how to exercise them.
The firm specialises in the residential property market sector and has built a reputation of excellence, growing substantially through client referrals. JB Leitch now acts for many influential businesses in the property management sector including major freehold investment companies.
Robert has been volunteering in the leasehold sector for over 30 years starting off as founding Chairman of a Residents’ Association. Since, he has been a committee member, Chief Executive and now Admin Director of the FPRA. For 10+ years he was a non-executive director of LEASE and has written numerous articles from the leaseholders’ perspective.
Chris’ involvement in the sector started when he shared offices with a developer. Subsequently, he sold his business to Countrywide, where he spent a decade growing their leasehold business. He has been involved in acquiring ground rent reversions for clients for over 20 years and now manages some of the UK’s most iconic residential buildings.
A former Chair of the Association of Retirement Housing Managers, Debbie has worked in property management for many years and is passionate about continually improving retirement housing. At Anchor, England’s largest not-for-profit leasehold management organisation, Debbie provides specialist leasehold support to meet regulatory and statutory requirements and drive best practice.
Steve has over 25 years’ experience of housing and leasehold management and at A2Dominion is responsible for a portfolio of 7,000 leasehold and shared ownership properties. He chairs the National Housing Association Leasehold Group, acting as an advocate for specialist management of leasehold properties and a higher profile for shared ownership.
Graeme is currently working to deliver a £1bn+ housing programme. He has over 20 years experience in delivering affordable housing and asset management in the public and private sectors. He was previously Chair of The National Housing Federation’s Home Ownership Advisory Panel and has served as a member of six Government home ownership reviews.
Steve founded Redrow in 1974. The business evolved from a small civil engineering contractor to one of the UK’s leading home-builders. Steve led the Company flotation in 1994 and eventually stepped down as Chairman in November 2000. He returned in March 2009. He was awarded an OBE in 1992 for services to the construction industry.
