For the first time ever, the most influential people in the residential leasehold property sector are identified. The list contains a mix of leasehold campaigners, Parliamentarians, trade and professional bodies, managing agents, building owners, investors, developers, valuers, and lawyers amongst others.
Entries have been gathered subjectively according to our knowledge and experience of the industry and are arranged in alphabetical order by name.
Richard heads up both Harrods Estates Asset Management and PL Management, between them probably the leading managing agents for prime central London and riverside, new developments. Richard founded both businesses in 2000 and has built up a blue chip client and development portfolio. Richard also provides consultancy advice for new development management.
Craig started the company in 2007 and it has grown very quickly with over 300 developments and almost 20,000 units under management. Previously he worked for two of the largest companies in the industry. Warwick Estates won the “National Property Management Company” category at the Blockinsure Property Management Awards.
Alistair is one of the leading enfranchisement and lease extension valuers in London. He has dealt with some landmark and high profile Prime Central London enfranchisement cases, and was part of the team behind the successful placement of the Asset Management across for the Wellcome Trust’s South Kensington Estate.
Janie has been involved with the Institute of Residential Property Management from the beginning in 2002. The Institute now has a membership of 3,000 and is recognised as the leading professional body for residential block managers with employers now seeking IRPM qualified managers. She is currently Chairman.
Jonathan Turton is a leading specialist in enfran-chisement law at Boodle Hatfield. He has been involved in some of the leading enfranchisement cases and is known for his innovative work in developing new structures that enable houses and flats to be sold on long leases without creating enfranchisement rights.
Terry focusses on new initiatives and oppor-tunities for expansion of the Crabtree Group, which now comprises six separate companies. Since participating in the management buy-out in 2002, Crabtree has grown organically and through acquisition to be one of the largest managing agents in the UK.
Brett has over 20 years’ experience of working in service charge management and his department manages a portfolio approaching 16,500 individual flats and apartments in some 450 developments. He is a past Chairman of ARMA, where he is also a Director and currently sits on the RICS Property Management Working Group.
James is a regular speaker on leasehold valuation issues including as a member of RICS Residential Survey and Valuation Group. He is co-author of ‘Leasehold enfranchisement explained’, and is lead author of RICS Practice Standards, UK ‘Leasehold reform in England and Wales’, and a contributor to ‘iSurv’ on leasehold reform matters.
Since leaving her role as Director of Asset and Property Management at Grainger in 2009, Debra co-founded SAY Property Consulting LLP. SAY specialise in residential and mixed use management advice. Debra is working on some of London’s most prestigious and complex developments and is pushing the industry forward in respect of management and service standards.
