With international terrorism and domestic extremism continuing to be a real threat across the UK, it is important for Concierge Officers to remain on high alert and have the requisite training to deter, detect and aid counter terrorist activity.

As part of the role, Concierge Officers should be encouraged to be vigilant as well as required to maintain a Daily Occurrence Log, which will be in continuous use and keep all relevant people updated of any occurrences or incidents on the site.

As part of the assignment instructions for those on duty, reference should be made to:

  • Undertaking regular external and internal patrols, taking note of any objects left in the communal areas
  • Monitoring any suspicious or unknown vehicles parked on the site and reporting these when necessary
  • Examining parcels before they are processed, looking out for any unusual features, such as excessive weight or damage to the packaging
  • Ensuring that parcels are not stored for extended periods and these are returned if they remain uncollected
  • Requesting that all unknown individuals are asked to identify themselves and where appropriate they are asked to sign in and out of the premises

At Pro Sentry all staff are comprehensively trained before being deployed and are required to undertake a familiarisation visit prior to commencing their first shift. It is instilled upon them that they are an integral member of staff and that their role is imperative in protecting the safety and security of the community and environment.
