More than 20 staff at property management and lettings group Xenia swapped blocks for rocks to scale England’s highest mountain for charity.
The 22-strong group from Sale-based Xenia climbed to the summit of Scafell Pike in the Lake District – which stands at 978 metres – and in doing so have raised £1,700 for mental health charity Manchester Mind.
Among those taking part were director of estates Farrah McWilliam, head of estates Miriam Unsworth and head of lettings Jennifer Brown.
Joining the group were Willow the cocker spaniel and Bear the Pomeranian, who belong to Jennifer and Farrah respectively. The dogs were the team’s unofficial mascots for the day.
Rachel Feltham, Xenia’s head of welfare, said: “We had a great turnout, and everyone was raring to go for a wonderful cause.
“It was a really tough hike but everyone took on the challenge like a champion and there was a real sense of achievement at the end despite their sore legs!
“We’ve managed to raise a fantastic amount of money for Manchester Mind, and we’re hugely grateful to everyone who took part, supported us and donated – it’s hugely appreciated.
“I’m so pleased that our efforts will go towards making a positive difference to such a vital charity.”
Rachel added: “Being involved in charity-related work is extremely important to Xenia as a business.
“As part of our wider commitment to corporate social responsibility, we actively support initiatives that benefit our local community and contribute to meaningful social impact. Manchester Mind does amazing work around the clock to support young people and adults in the area.
“Alongside supporting good causes in the community, we are committed to promoting mental health awareness in the workplace.
“Activities in the great outdoors tie in with our mental health and wellbeing initiatives, which encourage our team to get outside, take part in events, socialise with others and raise money for good causes.”
Manchester Mind supports more than 11,000 young people and adults each year by promoting positive attitudes to mental health, challenging stigma and increasing awareness.
Zoe Colven-Davies, fundraising officer at Manchester Mind, said: “We are so grateful to the Xenia team – every step they took up Scafell Pike will help us ensure nobody in Manchester faces a mental health challenge alone and receives support, understanding and hope.
“Every pound raised goes directly to our Welcome and Access Team, who are the first point of contact for anyone reaching out to Manchester Mind.
“Xenia’s support helps us make it easier for anyone to ask for assistance, ensuring no-one feels alone when taking that first, often hardest, step toward better mental health.”
The Xenia group operates nationwide from its HQ in Greater Manchester. Its Xenia Lettings division specialises in residential and student lettings as well as property management services. Its Xenia Estates business manages residential blocks and commercial estates.
